In our section about bonuses, we’re aiming to tell you all about the various bonuses that are available at online casinos and what you need to be aware of before claiming them. A special bonus category is reserved for Blackjack bonuses because those are rare and a little different.
What is a Blackjack bonus?
Any bonus that allows you to play Blackjack games and, more importantly, allows you to play Blackjack when meeting rollover requirements, can be considered a Blackjack bonus. That can be true for a plain old welcome bonus, a reload bonus, even a no-deposit bonus or special Blackjack offers.
Considering these criteria, most online casinos offer Blackjack bonuses. But for the most part, those bonuses don’t recommend themselves to Blackjack players. In fact, most bonuses, especially welcome and reload bonuses, tend to favour slot players.
The reason for this is simple: the wagering requirements.
If you want to use such a bonus when playing Blackjack and you want to go as far as playing Blackjack when meeting the wagering requirements, you’ll be in for a surprise.
Game weighting for Blackjack when meeting wagering requirements
Blackjack is one of the most popular casino table games in existence. It is relatively simple to play and offers some strategies, even basic ones, that allow you to win more often than not. The house edge for Blackjack is among the lowest, averaging around 0.5% depending on your strategy. That means, 99.5% of the time, you are able to win if you know what you’re doing. Though, let’s rule out card counting here, which is strictly prohibited and will see you banned from old-fashioned brick-and-mortar casinos. In online casinos, card counting is not really an option.
Be that as it may, with such a low house edge, casinos rarely allow Blackjack as a game to play when their customers want to meet the wagering requirements of a bonus. At the most, Blackjack will contribute 10%. And that is already quite generous.
What does that look like when calculating your wagering?
If you have received €100 in bonus money, which comes with rollover requirements of 35x, you will need to place wagers of €3,500 in total to meet the bonus terms. That is possible when playing slots that contribute 100%.
However, if you stick only with Blackjack, you will actually have to wager €35,000 in total, because Blackjack only contributes 10%. And that only, if Blackjack contributes at all. It may not be allowed or could contribute only 5% as well.
Other bonuses for Blackjack players
A better option for Blackjack bonuses may be no-deposit bonuses that allow you to also play Blackjack games. No-deposit bonuses tend to be difficult to wager anyway, but at the very least you’ll have bonus cash to use when playing Blackjack, which is better than nothing.
A reload bonus with lower wagering requirements where Blackjack contributes to the wagering requirements, is also a better option to take than a welcome bonus. The question usually is, whether you really want to attempt to meet the rollover requirements for a bonus or not. Or if you’re happy to simply use the bonus funds to play some Blackjack, especially when you’re new to the game and are still learning the rules and strategies.
Finally, however, there are some casinos that offer live casino bonuses. These are also welcome bonuses, but they are geared specifically to live casino players. Here you may get your usual 100% bonus and €200 in bonus cash, but wagering requirements are 70x, for instance. That seems very high, but only live table games will contribute towards the playthrough requirements and usually at a much more realistic percentage than other welcome bonuses.
Of course, it does mean that you’ll be playing Live Blackjack instead, but maybe you want to give it a try.
Consider Blackjack promotions instead
Aside from Blackjack bonuses, quite a few online casinos that want to make their table game players happy, offer regular Blackjack promotions. Those can look vastly different, but they will always be exclusive to Blackjack games.
Often you may be required to win with a Blackjack to win something in such a promotion. The prize may be some extra cash or something else entirely.
Collecting special cards when playing Blackjack during a special promotion could also be a way of winning. Mr Green Casinos, for instance, offers Blackjack promotions regularly and often players have to draw a gold card to win.
Where to get the best Blackjack bonuses
As mentioned above, most casinos that don’t exclusively focus on slots and slot players will also have a decent offering for fans of table games. That means even standard bonus terms will allow for table games to contribute towards the playthrough requirements.
Beyond that, special promotions aimed at Blackjack players are not that difficult to find at one-stop-shop casinos, which cater to slot players, table game and live casino players as well as poker and bingo players and sports betting fans. Such casinos have a wide range of offers for all their customers, including Blackjack players.
Casinos with regular offers include 888, Mr Green, Guts.com, LeoVegas, Unibet or Codeta.
